Folks - First, let me wish you all a swinging New Year and all the best for 2026! Last year was tough for us here financially but a good year for me personally since I've been taping my regular Sunday outdoor jazz gigs ("Jazz in the Plaza" here in Petaluma - see info on our home page, www.shermusic.com). By having an objective outside source of information I've been able to improve my playing where it needed improvement and have discovered the joys of patting myself on the back for the things I'm doing better - even at this late stage of the game (I'm 78 years old). Live and learn, eh?
Speaking of bass playing, Bob Sinicrope (Down Beat Jazz Educator of the Year last year) has two more additions to his "Walking Bass Line Construction" series - So What and Take the 'A' Train - now available on our website. All the material previously available only via hyperlinks in his books is now printed out in the hard copies, which makes the books even more valuable than before. Check them out and also our January digital book discounts at https://www.shermusic.com/sale.php.
Here's to a better year for everyone in 2026 and, as some anonymous poet wrote, "Make Beauty - there will be one less place for evil to hide." Peace and Love - Chuck Sher
